The mission of the Salem Boys Choir is to provide boys of any race or creed the opportunity to build character, responsibility, self-esteem, and self-discipline through music education and performance.
Philosophy
Boys develop at different rates. They have varied experiences and natural abilities as well as different desires and motivations which determine their place in the Salem Boys Choir program. An individual boy should not be compared to others. When a boy does his best, he will improve and advance at his own pace. Special awards and assignments are gained through determined work, demonstrated ability, a cooperative spirit and dedication (with less importance placed on length of membership or age). A boy's own BEST is his most valuable contribution!
Goals
To provide a quality music education program with opportunities to explore the arts through participation and direct contact with professional musicians.
To instill self worth and a sense of accomplishment through self-discipline, self-accountability, and commitment to others as a team of singers.
To develop leadership skills and self-confidence as social growth takes place through meeting and working with others at concerts and festivals.
